The original San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers was built in 1879 and was financed for restoration in 1999. In 2001, Thameside was recommended to complete the interior and exterior brick work. The project presented the challenge of duplicating an exact replica of the original brick structure.

With the design in hand, Thameside worked with the McNear Brick Company from San Rafael to manufacture a customized brick made especially for the Conservatory of Flowers. This collaboration produced an aesthetically precise brick that matched the original masonry and enabled the walls to be seismically built to current building code requirements.

The Conservatory of Flowers reopened in September 2003 and today stands as one of the countries most treasured national monuments.
